On the upper left side of the radiator support is a thermistor (a resistor that varies it's resistance according to temperature). It is a two wire sensor. GM calls it an ambient air temperature sensor. Unplug it and see what you read. It may say something like OC on the mirror with the sensor unplugged..If it reads OC with the sensor unpluggedthen the sensor is probably bad. This is a fairly common problem and easy fix. Just replace sensor. You will have to get the sensor at the dealer's part department. Cost is less than $20.

Yes, that was it. It was a dealer part #15035786 and costs $6.00. The vehicle had to be driven for the temp to read correctly. Thanks.

[align=left]This Pt.# is for the bracket only. The sensor number is 15047946. List is $19.90 Trade is $13.94. The 02 TB does not require the bracket but it comes that way from the dealer. Installation is very simple. It's located on the left (drivers) side of the radiator but does not attach to it. It's out front in the rear of the grille and simply unplugs from it's socket. Disconnect the two wire lead-in from the sensor and after removing the accompanying bracket from the new one, plug the wires into it and reseat the sensor back into the hole where you removed the old one. Having small hands halps!
