Default Tailgate issue

Hi. Been away for a while but the winter was harsh both weather and personal.

Last summer I had a tailgate that wouldn't lock (I hear it make a serious sound as if it was locking, But it didn't) so I replaced the tailgate and the same problem persists. It sounds like it's working but it refuses to lock by any means. AND. I REPLACED the wiper (the entire assembly) and it worked TWICE then quit. As A Third issue my left front headlight is not working since the first month I owned the truck. The bulbs are new and even tested afterwards

I have a Chilton's but when it comes to electrical I need to consider my age and haven't read a wiring diagram for about 30 years.

I'm well situated for tools and wires and wondering if the

I suspect that the seller bought the truck either from a LONG TERM wrecking company OR from a flood rescue. Am I foolish to think I can wire the bad headlight directly from the passenger side lights?

Some guidance will be very appreciated.

Default Hello anybody there?

It's really important to fix this tailgate problem because my valuables are always at risk when I'm boating/camping and fishing and hunting.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me why it sounds like it's working but it's not.

Check the wiring where they enter the hatch , the repeated opening and closing of the hatch sometimes breaks these wires and then you get weird stuff happening . The headlight might want to look at the light socket itself , sometimes they go bad or I have even heard of them partially melting .
