Unless the computer is showing a lot of misfires even after replacing plugs and wires, I wouldn't waste the money on them.

My 5.3l has over 290,000 miles on the original ignition coils. I was chasing what I thought was a misfire issue caused by aging coils so I replaced them all but it made no difference. Turns out, the plugs that only had about 13,000 miles on them were counterfeit! The supposed iridium tips were worn down to nubs. The idle was much smoother after replacing them with genuine plugs but the real problem was a bad torque converter. I swapped the original coils back in and everything is still running great.
