I have a 2018 and I find it annoying for the engine to shut down when at a stop. Seems to me it would put excessive wear on the starter and engine. Can the computer be programed for the engine to just idle at a stop?

 

No. There are a few ways to bypass it with driving habits and controls. Sometimes when it's hot and the A/C is running it won't kill
the motor.

1. When coming to a stop, ease up on the brakes before you stop. Works most of the time for me in my
15' Chevy Malibu. It is what I do most often.

2. Put the tranny into "N" neutral just before the stop. This, you need to make sure you don't hit reverse accidentally.

3. Put the auto transmission into manual mode if you have it, as you stop.
