Default DRL/Turn Signal- Wiring for Turn Signal LED

Hi all,

I'm trying to wire in an led turn signal mirror to my 09 Chevy Uplander, just need some help figuring how the circuit works.

I understand the BCM controls both the turn signal flashing and the DRL function, and outputs the voltage to the front amber bulbs (the same bulb will flash for turn signalling and stay on for DRL when the van is in gear).

At first I wanted to wire the led turn signal mirrors into the wiring at the front DRL/Turn signal bulb, but I don't think there is a wire that separates the turn signal circuit from the DRL function.

The installation instructions for the turn signal mirrors mention:
"Tap directly into just the turn signal wiring by locating connector X3 of the Body Control Module (located below the left side of the instrument panel to the left of the steering column) and tapping into the wire locations 4 & 17 (Left/Right Turn Sig SW Sig) respectively, for the left (light blue with white stripe) and right (dark blue with white stripe) turn signal wiring."

Please correct me if I am wrong, but won't connecting the turn signal mirrors this way only provide a constant on signal (without flashing) to the signal mirrors since the turn signal lever is only providing the BCM a constant ground signal at wires #4 & #17 in order to activate the flashing at wires #41 & #42 (Left/Right Turn SIG LMP VOLT) ?
If I connect the led signal mirror into wires #41 & #42 at the BCM, I think the turn signal mirrors will both stay on (during DRL function) and flash during the turn signal function.
The issue is that I only want the mirrors to flash only during turn signalling.

Is there any other way I can connect these turn signal mirrors so they only flash during turn signalling, or would tapping into wires 4 and 17 do the trick?

Hi all,

Below is a closer look at the BCM wiring for the suggested installation of tapping into wires 4 and 17.
Only issue I suspect with this is that by tapping into 4 and 17 may only give me a constant on signal for the turn signal mirror when the turn signal lever is activated in the left or right position.
I am looking to see if there is a way the mirrors can be connected to only receiving a flashing signal- any help would be appreciated!

Hey all,

I've contacted the manufacturer again and their technician confirmed with me wires 4 and 17 definitely will give me the flashing I need for the signal mirrors.
