They are pretty durable and also quite fixable.
My 2006 Uplander has 240,000 miles on it and still runs well. It is a southern vehicle and is remarkably rust-free with excellent body integrity. It was a fleet vehicle and came equipped with full cage, roof rack, and interior shelving. I needed to put a fuel pump in it first thing upon purchase over a year ago. As far as I can tell the only attention this thing has had over the course of it's life has been gasoline and oil changes. It still has the original spark plugs and wires! The A/C still blows cold on the original compressor. Trans shifts kind of funky. I don't want to ruin it so I give it benign neglect. According to Wikipedia there were only some 550,000 produced in all GM flavors before being orphaned. They seem to have a high survival rate in Joplin, MO. USPS, a local hospital, a taxi service, and several tradesmen (including me) are still flogging them daily. I see the passenger version on a regular basis. Age and parts commonality with other GM vehicles means widespread knowledge and parts support. I would say the lifespan depends on the owner's tolerance level and aversion to making payments on something else!
