Default 2005 venture fuel regulator replacement issues

I had been smelling fuel... went to get a "smog" check and guy said it was leaking from the fuel pressure regulator (they are not required to tell you how to fix it but the guy did me a favor because I missed that) I confirmed the leak and got the part. Watched several YT videos (yes they can save your ***... how to get that one bolt out...) Even though the it should be "easy", I ran into several clearance issues. Even bought a special torx bit/ratchet set so that solved one issue. I have the tools to do this and can (almost) remove the part but... there is a bolt that holds the throttle body on and it extends way further than needed (like it sticks out 1/2 inch) This is the only thing keeping me from getting this done. I will try to post pics soon. Some videos show the same bolt but it barely extends... other show it like mine... extending too far (but these guys are not good with the camera/phone) so I can't see what they did. I have heard about some people having to remove the entire air system and throttle body because of this. It failed smog check because of this (no other issues) I get one free re-test but only have a couple weeks. I would just grind that extra 1/4 in off the bolt end but we are talking fuel system and gas vapors

here's a pic... just to the right of the regulator is the bolt. I can actually try backing the bolt out a few turns (easy to reach) but was hoping to avoid that
