predictable stalling
hello all, I have a strange problem that I cant solve. I have a 2003 chevy venture fwd,3400 v6. it cranks up fine on cold start, then after 30s-5min the fuel pump shuts off( I listened for it by the rear driver tire) if you do not return the key to the off position the cel does not come on for bulb check. return key to off and the cel stays on until it cranks back up. now, if im not mistaken the mil/cel is supposed to shut off during starting unless the CKP sensor is bad. I am lost and need this car out of here, any help would be awesome.
Update**
tested and replaced the main crank sensor(the one behind the harmonic balancer) and now it wont start, at all. while removing the harmonic balancer, it came apart(completely my fault, i installed the puller wrong) and I pressed it together, and it installed just fine. it started up and died, now it wont start again. will i need to replace the balancer?

Yes, you need to replace the balancer. However, that should not have caused the engine to die, nor should the sensor behind it either. It's the one that fits in the side of the block that will keep it from running - that's the spark timing sensor, and it's a bear...
