The Key to Chevy Trucks Success? Special Editions

There are a lot of vehicle manufacturers who make special edition vehicles. One of the more-popular ones is the Jeep Wrangler, which even had several video game special editions. For some manufacturers, they are a key to selling even more vehicles with higher profit margins. Chevrolet is doing that these days with their line of pickup trucks, and it’s helping the company’s bottom-line.

Last year, the only really successful special edition was the Midnight Edition, which blacks out everything, including the wheels. This year is a bit different, with the new Trail Boss and All Terrain X (GMC) models adding roll bars and LED lights. There’s the return of the blacked-out Midnight Edition. There’s even a Realtree special edition, for if you want to make it difficult to see your pickup truck in the woods!

But seriously, with fuel prices low trucks are on fire, and creating niches is a great way to appeal to more buyers. Niche vehicles meet the needs of specific buyers, and offers them something unique that they might not see elsewhere on the road. Truck owners like to modify their trucks, and these niche models already set the buyer on the path towards customizing their vehicles even more.

It’s also worked well for their across-town rivals Ford, who have both Raptors and King Ranch models that sell extremely well, and command premium prices. Truck buyers are willing to spend money, and Chevrolet is capitalizing on that with their new niche products.
