IIRC oil pressure is applied to the tensioner to increase tension on the timing chain. I'd have to check on that.

I have a question. Is there an extended warranty or secret warranty for timing chains issues on 2007 chevy colbalts? I had a oil change about two-three months ago and oil level was fine. Went to leave my house car won't start. Took it to the mechanics and the oil was gone , no oil leak and timing chain is broken. Came across this forum because I'm looking for an answer and see I'm not the only one. Can someone please please help? Love this car and don't want to get ride of it. It's in great condition.

no extended warranty or tsb for this to my knowledge.
