Call me as sharp as a bowling ball, but I can't figure how to remove the wiper blade.

Hi guys,

I have a 1994 G20...replacing the wiper blades...can't figure out how to release the old blade off the driver side arm (duh). See pic:

Thanks...

Not seen one like that, someones jacked it up. Pull the locking ring (top of the pin) with a small screwdriver, pop it off, then remove the wiper arm.

Take a small screwdriver with a small hammer pop the lockring off.

Well, I hacked and hacked and pounded and pried at that locking ring...didn't have any luck releasing it.

What it seems to have been the solution, is releasing the tension on those little wires poking up from the inside of the blade, you can see them in the picture facing AWAY from the windshield.

Those wires are the ends of a spring that are providing tension on the spring and are holding the blade on the pin/arm. Releasing those two wires and letting them/spring/fall into the inside of the blade, released tension on the spring, and released the blade from the pin/arm...though still, not without a stiff pull on the blade.

Now maybe after all my hacking away, what wound up releasing the blade was a circumstance OTHER than the way it was supposed to happen.

But trying to pop off that locking ring was either too difficult for me, and/or I just lucked out with those wires.

If you have an autozone where you are, take it to them, they are supposed to be able to replace wiper blades.

I bought "Valeo" blades...and they did have directions, but not for that style of attachment. (But in the package there is a plastic part for proper attachment.)

Yep...very good idea...except I had bought the blades off Amazon. Anyway, it all worked out in the end.

Thanks for your help.
