I posted this in the new area, but I bet y'all don't look there very often.

I'm trying to change wiper blades on my 04 silverado. The instructions say to move the wiper arm away from the windshield and rotate the blade 90 degrees. I can't get the arm any more than 3-to-4 inches away from the windshield, which isn't enough room to rotate the blade. What am I missing?

 

um, there should be a hinge on the arm, so you can have the blade in the air, sticking straight up.

 

i try bending it back, but it just stops. is there a release somewhere on the arm to allow the hinge to release?

You should be able to just swing the wiper arm away from the windshield to where the wiper arm is 90 degrees from the windshield. It will stay there. No release or clip or anything else.

Advance Auto Parts advertises that they will change the blades for free if you buy them there. Watch them change the blades.

 

I just bought an 04 2500. The wiper arm will not go 90 degrees. You have to hold it, push down the little button, and slide the wiper down toward the arm.
