Just wondering if anyone knows if this is possible and if so how! I have an 06 2500 express with 4.8l v8. I'm referring to the AWD that chevy offers, not a big 4x4 conversion like quigley. Thank you

Don't know. Was only an option on the half ton. I'd also bet that a 4x4 conversion would be cheaper.....

I would love to know if there's some sort of conversion kit out for a full 4 X 4 conversion because I use and need my van. I picked up a Pontiac Montana with versatrak a couple years back and I love the thing but it doesn't have the pulling power that my van has or obviously the capacity. Plus it has 200,000 on it now so I really don't want to pull with it.

I think the AWD option was in the 2500's for the 2003 model year only, and then 1/2 ton from there. I think you would want to find a wrecked one for a donor and swap everything over. But there probably was a reason they quit installing them in the 3/4 tons.

I would go full 4x instead myself. There are places that will do it, but expect to spend $10k + to have it done. Would probably be better off looking for a used one, but expect an 8k bump in price that way too.

Fords tend to be converted more since they have solid axle vehicles that bolt up better. If you decide to have your chevy done, very good chance it will end up with ford parts on it for the front end.

I would check out expedition portal forums and sportsmobile forums for more info. Some have done it there.

Yeah I have seen a few Fords done and there is a site I have seen that offers them. I would assume Chevy stopped the AWD because of strength. Even this Versatrak in this Montana I have gets a bad wrap from every mechanic I talk to. I did have a rear end go out ($250 in a bine yard so not bad) but other than that it's been good. 200K and still running strong, but then again I don't load it like my 2500 and it see's a lot of highway miles....

I had a 1996 Econoline 150 (1/2 ton) thyat had a Quigley conversion in it. They do a really nice job but will only do new or very low mileage vehicles and the price is over 10K now. They stopped doing 1/2 ton vans because it decreased the available payload due to the weight of the components they need to add. I see now they are doing the 1/2 tons again.
For a while they were doing chevy vans but they stopped for some reason for a while now I see they are doing them again.

I have seen one once. I wanted to buy it but I was a day late. It was a wrecked 1500 AWD that they rebuilt with a 2500 rear end. Modified the front suspension to turn it into a 1500HD AWD extended.

I would LOVE to do this to my extended...I mean before I looked at buying another Van I would do this first. Whats the milage limit they will do it? I did not see it
