Does anyone no how to take the pump out of the module? My van is a 2001, 3500, express van. 5.7 gas. You can buy just the pump instead of the whole assembly, and its a lot cheaper.

I thought they were integral. You have to replace the whole unit.....

I understand they are one unit. but not 100% sure.

I do know that they are prone to go bad, so spend the $$ on a good quality brand pump. It is a PIA job to get the pump replaced, so you only want to do it once.

there is a way I just don't know how to take it apart and change it. They sell the pump separate, that I know and a friend that use to live close to me changed it out on his Silverado. but he has moved and I can't get in touch with him. You can buy a really good pump for 49 dollars. But unless I can find someone else that has done it. I guess I will have to buy the whole assembly. Thanks You'all

ok I changed the pump and it ran for a week then started the same stuff starts sometimes, and sometimes it don't. I noticed that ebay sells a wire harness with pumps. Is there an issue with the harness on the van?

Personally I would not trust an aftermarket pump. I would get a new oem part and go with that. They are hundreds of bucks, not cheap, but a bad pump could quit with you stranded in the middle of nowhere.
Also, the fuel in the tank cools the pump. Never run your van down to empty and put a few bucks in at a time.....you will shorten its life big time.

My fuel pump job parts and labour was 680 bucks.....been fine since.
