Default Engine Dying Problem

I have a 2003 "Chevy" 5-door sedan. Recently, it has started dying when I slow or stop, after reaching operating temp. The "indicators" are that it seems to suddenly stop sending firing info to the fuel injectors. It sputters and sputters and then, stops. You have to cycle the ign key to OFF before it will restart.

My feeling is that the ECM map is corrupted. However, I have no way to verify that. Mexico has NO factory trained mechanics! Hell, they won't even open a service manual! They've all said, "Fuel pump. Spark plugs." You name it, they've tried changing it, all to no avail.

My biggest problem is I don't have a factory service manual to refer to. Therefore, I come to the forum, seeking advice. It is imperative that I get this corrected.

Can anyone, with experience in this area, shoot me a clue or two?

Thanks,

John

This the car I'm referring to. I've always called it a "Chevy," just as it says on the rear. However, I find that that's not the model name. Anyone got a clue because the Mexican Title says "Chevy," too.

Thanks,

John

OK,

"Corsa" is Opel's model name. What is Chevy's model name? Corsa isn't listed within HelmInc.com for manuals. What does Chevrolet call this, model-wise?????

I reckon if you look down on the page to the "Corsa B", you'll find on the left side that it is known as the Chevrolet Chevy or Chevrolet C2

Default RE: Engine Dying Problem

Found the cause of the forever stopping engine. I don't know what it's name is but I'd normally call it the "coil." Affixed to driver's side of engine with 4 plug wires coming out of it. Not a distributor! Anyway, ran a pressure test on fuel with constant 37-40 psi. Wkhen my friend removed the "coil," two of the steel power delivery rods were cracked. When the unit heated up to engine temp, the cracks would separate so cyls 1 and 3 got no spark. This is really a "hidden" problem with this car.

Hope this helps others keep their hair!

Thanks for the assists.
