Default 12 pin connector

i recently bought this to add zune integration to my malibu
http://www.amazon.com/Soundgate-GMZN.../dp/B001EBGQR0
my radio is the stock with rds (no changer, xm, or cassette) it has the 12 pin connector on the back
the cable that comes with it is a y cable that connects to the gmznaux1, the radio, and another 12pin connector
when i get everything plugged in i cant get the radio to switch to an auxiliary or any other mode, im thinking the way the cable is wired it requires something (ie a cd changer or xm) to be plugged into that open 12 pin connector, is there a way to rewire that cable to be a straightway cable? or a place to get one? or am i just not able to get this to work?
any help will be appriciated

so you can't switch from am to fm to cd then to aux??
Was there a harness plugged into the 12 pin plug when you pulled the radio originally?

That harness is for onstar and XM. If you don't have either of those options, then the harness will not be there.

You could try to have the radio reprogrammed for XM so that the radio will even acknowledge that there is a harness plugged into that port

When I press the source button, nothing happens unless I have a cd in the radio, and the band button just cycles though AM and FM 1 and 2. when I pulled the radio out, the port was empty, there was no harness coming out of it (there was one coming out of the 24 pin slot obviously).

would I have to go into a dealer to have it reprogrammed for XM? if so, what would that cost?

thanks for all your help

most dealers will charge you an hours labour.......but if you ask them nicely they may do it for less. it is litterally no more than 5 mins of pushing buttons
