Default 87 caprice 305 to 86 305

I have a 87 caprice with a electronic carb and distributor, I was told I can put a aftermarket non electronic carb and distributor and be fine just with a check engine light, I did this and she runs but rough. I have hoses and wires I'm not sure if I just tape and plug them off or if there's more to this to get her running smooth

Welcome to the forum.

You will get more views if you post your question in the Caprice section. Was the carb new, rebuilt, or just a swap out? Could be that the carb isn't set up correctly for your engine. I did something similar on an '80 Cutlass but it took a while to get things sorted out.
