Default Fuel gauge on with engine off

Help. 3 minutes after engine is off, key is removed, door has been opened & closed...The fuel gauge clicks on and begins draining the battery. If I open door the gauge shuts down. 3 minutes later the fuel gauges registers fuel, battery drains. Anyone had to solve this problem? Thanks for the help.

It may be the contacts in the switch are going bad or the timing of the switch is out. So, pop the switch out and check it.

Thanks Jeff. Are you referring to the ignition switch or the fuel gauge?
My concern is...with the engine off and the key removed...the battery is being drained. The indication of power being used is the fuel gauge needle on the dash. I actually hear a click when the gauge comes on. I appreciate any feedback.
