Replacement of Fuel Filter

Replacement of Fuel Filter
Hi, I have a 2004 S10 with the Vortec V-6 engine. I would like to change the fuel filter (routine 30,000 mile service) and note that the filter manufacturer warns that most system are under pressure and that the automakers recommended procedures must be followed to avoid possible injury. Based on the little information I have found, it appears that this would involve removing the fuel pump circuit breaker and turning the engine over for a while to reduce the pressure in the fuel line before removing the old filter. Can anyone out there confirm this or put me on the right track????

RE: Replacement of Fuel Filter
Make sure that You relieve the pressure slowly ( Loosten and retighten the filter a couple of times ). Also have a good sized pan ready to catch excess fuel when You rempve the filter. BE CAREFUL. That's the main thing.

RE: Replacement of Fuel Filter
i just replaced my fuel filter after reading my manual. all i had to do to relieve the fuel pressure was open my gas cap like you do at the gas station. there was a little spilling but it was no big deal. just a small bucket and a rag and no smoking. ps make sure you tighten the filter properly
