Default 4.3L Oil cooler lines removal

I have a 1994 K1400 4x4 with a 4.3L. My oil cooler lines are leaking. I would like to just get rid of them all together. I really don't have a need for a cooler. I don't tow anything and I live in Northern MN so it never really gets all that hot here. I know with a 5.7 you can remove them and the adaptor and screw the oil filter to the block but can you with a 4.3L. I can't find any info talking about it. There appears to be a clearance issue with the front driveshaft when trying to do this.

Sure,

Use the filter adaptor and filter out of a 2 wheel drive. Yes, it fits close to the drive shaft but it does clear.
