First truck..Brit needs some advice!
Hi,
So I have ventured across the ocean to Lincoln, Nebraska and I am about to pull the trigger on my first truck..of course a Chevy. So the one I am looking at is this:
http://lincoln.craigslist.org/cto/4192553523.html
Hope it is alright to ask for advice on here, but does this seem like a decent deal? I took her for a test drive and everything sounded good. They just had the rear breaks done and the AC compressor replaced. Single owner.
Any advice much appreciated!
Thanks.

A single owner? You are probably better off buying it from someone who is single rather than married. LOL!
Seriously, just take care of the basic maintenance and it will give you good service.
Six grand seems a bit much for a truck that is 18 years old, but the market in each region is different. If it is a better price than other trucks of similar vintage, then you probably can't go wrong with it. If it has no body damage, the frame is good and it doesn't have any rust, you should be okay. More likely than not, it has the 5.7 VORTEC V8 - one of the best engines (small block 350) ever made.
Good luck with making the right choice! :-)

Lol. Thanks. They have agreed to come down to $5,000 so not sure if that puts it more in the ball park? I tried looking it up on KBB, but couldn't quite figure out what it was on there. Any help in that department much appreciated!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Not sure if Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com) goes back that far; but you might want to try the Auto Trader web page ( Trader Online Magazine New and Used Classifieds For Sale - TraderOnline.com ) and see what they are selling for in various markets.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the link. Seems like 5k is in the range. One quick question. The interior leaves a bit to be desired. In particular, the leather seats are a bit worn and cracked. Can these be repaired and if so, what is the typical cost? Thanks again.

A real quick fix to worn or ripped seats is some nice seat covers. Some may call it half a** but I call it a reasonable solution to an expensive problem. Hope you enjoy your chevy
