Fuel Pump Assembly Line twisted.

Fuel Pump Assembly Line twisted.
Hey Guys,
I am rebuilding the fuel pump in my 1997 Chevy k1500, after dropping the tank I noticed that the fuel line on the pump assembly going to the fuel filter is twisted just before the connection to the line that runs up the frame rail. The twist is in the metal line that is part of the fuel pump assembly. It does not look pinched or split so I am thinking that it is supposed to be this way but I have never noticed this in any of the other fuel pumps that I have replaced before. Can anyone tell me for sure that it is supposed to be this way, and for curiosities sake why? I am assuming that it is to keep up a certain amount of pressure, but not sure. Thanks in advance for any help.
