Default 1987 Chevy 4x4 shortbed value?

Hi I’m looking at this 4x4 shortbed. It’s in fair to poor shape. Rocker panels seem to be the only big rust issue. Needs paint. engine 350 runs rough but runs. Any idea of value. Any ideas will help. Thanks.

Shortbeds are popular around here for offroading. An 87 would bring a premium for having a solid front axle and fuel injection. I'd say it could bring up to $3500 in that condition. You could buy a longbed with a carb or a later model with a ifs front for $1000-$2000. I know it varies from place to place though.

im going to say this. ive owned 8 or so squares, only one did i pay 3k for and it was lifted and had 38s and was a clean truck. i know its a little different but before i bought my last one (91 v3500 crew cab) with a 350 tbi and 4l80e trans i had been looking for over a year for a crew cab and people were asking crazy money for them. there was one local that was so rusted the door seals were hanging down and they asked 4k for it. as far as i know it never sold. when i found mine at an auction i was prepared to spend 4k on it because of the transmission and being a crew cab. i only paid 1800 for it. rockers were rusty but the rest of the truck was ok. dont jump on the first one you come across, the truck you described if i was looking again for one i wouldnt pay over 1k for it. needs body work, needs engine work, needs paint, prob needs trans work also. those 700r4s were crap and if the truck is in poor condition they prob never even checked the trans fluid. you can easily wrap 1k into just getting it drivable and thats not even making it looking good. who knows about the brakes and fuel tanks. the tbi units are kind of finicky also. best bet imo is to let it pass and see how much someone does pay for it then use that to your advantage next time. also dont ever pay for what they ask for, only once did i do that and that was because i had to drive a few hours away to go get it
