Default Oil Filter

Ok, so this one is a little embarrassing cause I really should know the answer, haha...
I have a 1996 c1500 with the 5.7. Normally I take it somewhere to get the oil changed just cause of time and a few other factors in there. I change oil on other cars and trucks for friends all the time but I just haven't done it on my truck in a LONG time. I probably had help last time and they probably dealt with the filter... The problem is that now I don't know where the filter is even at. I looked around down there but I don't want to pull the wrong thing off. So far Google hasn't been much help.
So if anybody smarter than me would like to help enlighten me here I'd appreciate it.
Yall take it easy

You don't really have to worry about taking the wrong thing off cause there's only one filter down there by oil pan. I haven't changed oil on a pickup that old since I was a lube tech way back. But I thought the oil filter was up along the left side of the oil pan towards the back of the block.

If you go to the parts place and buy a new filter, then get under the truck and look around, you should see its twin there.

Not sure about your truck (equipped with a 305 or 350 V8, I assume), but my 2004 Silverado with the 5.3L V8 has the oil filter next to the oil pan. It will be just to the left (driver's side) of it and it hangs straight up and down.

Changing the oil filter on this truck is probably easier than 99 percent of vehicles on the road!
