Not knowing the plugs and wires have ever been changed on my truck I figured It would be a good idea to change them. Its a 01 Silverado 5.3. Just wondering if there are plugs or wires that work best or perform slightly better? Some things i have read alot of people seem to say stick with AC plugs, what about wires? OEM, MSD, TAYLOR, or any others?

been my experience that ac does work best. heard of some using ngk, but haven't tried myself. wires aren't so picky. although low resistance yires perform better. with that said, big name doesn't mean better. personally, i've always used taylor spiro pro wires.

GM uses Delco iridium plugs and Delco wires and recommends you change them at 100,000 miles. I don't know of any other aftermarket company that makes the same claim. any more power that you may get is not going to be noticeable in the sear of the pants. Maybe a little better mileage but at the cost of longitivity. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe that every component that GM uses is the best just because they use it. But when it comes to plugs and wires it's hard to argue.

^ couldn't have said it better myself. Stick with AC iridum plugs. You can also use NGK TR55 plugs, they don't last as long(50,000) but perform just as well

I had an 01 1500 5.3L and the Delco plugs were no problem at Advanced Auto the wires the listed a choice by coil style. They both fit like crap so I just used the better fitting ones and had no problem. I just got an 04 1500 5.3L and the plugs were just done so I got a set of Delco wires from Amazon for 40 bucks they are an exact match and it runs great. Amazon had the list price of I think 90 bucks so I think I did ok since I chose the free shipping and had them in two days. The plug prices were about the same as you would pay any place else no great deal but they still beat the dealer.

hands down the best wires you can buy are granatelli plug wires.
