Default Aftermarket Radio on a 96

The factory head unit with stock speakers is actually very good when playing CDs - I'm impressed.

That said, I want to put a KDC-152 I have laying around into it. I miss my AUX port I've listened to hte 1 CD I own about 100 times now and it's getting boring. And around here all the radio stations suck and where I commute have bad reception. I have one of those casette adapters but it doesn't work at all.

I read that if I put in an aftermarket head unit I'll lose the rear door speakers. That's a bummer :'( Is this true and if so how do I resolve it?

I'd love to do the Double DIN conversion but I don't have time and money for that right now.

Any advice appreciated.

Get a unit that is set up for 4 or more speakers. Not sure about your year, but you might lose the chimes for door open, keys in ignition, etc unless you get a unit set up for this..

I'm in the same boat. I learned that crutchfield sales a iphone/iPod adapter that hooks up directly to the factory radio. Im going that route since I want to keep the factory look. Mine is a 97 Good luck

That sounds great - where do I find this product, and will it work with Android. I don't have an iPod or iPhone.

I would go to Crufchfiled.com
And speak to a representative. They will be able to help you out with any questions .

Their live chat seems to be unavailable right now.
I couldn't find anything on Crutchfield's but I found this on Amazon:

No they work , you simply get the adapter harnass and there is 1 wire that has to be switched out or spliced in. it was pink or orange if memory serves right (done it 3 times now in 3 different burbs) wiring harnasses pics are all over google and I simply followed those and than f 'ed around for a while till I got it to work

Just to update, I ended up using that adapter from Amazon. It isn't the perfect solution but it works.
