thinking of buying a 2004 Tahoe
So I drive a 2002 toyota tundra now with a V6, we just bought a camper that well I was told it weighed 4500 lbs and the tundra was plenty for that, but now that I have got it home and looked everything over, the camper actually weighs 6500lbs, The tundra has hauled it, but I just don't want to kill the truck before its time, so we have been looking at V8 trucks, but cam across this Tahoe and like it, so I just wonder if it will be enough to haul the camper safely and with ease? the camper came with the load leveling hitch, and I have ordered the stabalizer bar also, what a huge difference the load leveling hitch makes on the tundra, I believe it has the 4.7 V8, it has 81000 miles on it, very clean
A second question is, I really don't belive this one has the third row seating, is that correct? I counldn't see it anyways

Hello and Welcome!
I do not know much about this particular generation of Tahoe's, and more specifically the 4.8L V8 version. Therefore, I cannot be of much help on the towing aspect of that. What I can suggest is if you have the VIN number of the vehicle I would try using this site HERE
If it has your VIN number on file, it will tell you every possible option the vehicle has (or originally had from the factory), including third row seats, and towing capacity (HD tow package, weight distributing hitch etc...).
I hope that helps! I am sure some other members that actually have this generation of Tahoe's can chime in about their experience. Good luck!!

Welcome to the forum.
Wife has a 2004 but w/ the 5.3. Not sure what the 4.8 tow rating is but the owner's manual should tell you. Sure enuf, it does. 2WD, 3.42-5,700, 3.73-6,700 & 4WD, 3.73-6,400, & 4.10-7,400.
So unless it is 2WD w/ the 3.42, it should handle your trailer w/ relative ease. If it doesn't have an external tranny oil cooler, you can always add one for an extra margin of safety.
Since it's a 4.8, it probably doesn't have the third row but you can check for sockets in the floor. Is it also an LS?
Let us know how it works out for you.

My wife drives an 04 Z-71 with the 5.3. It's the best truck we've ever owned. The only mechanical problem was the water pump. If you have any questions fasterm, ask.
