Default front diff welded

hey guys, I have a 1999 chevy tracker thats just a weekend toy. I was having issues with the 4x4 engaging all the way so I pulled the ring and pinion and welded what i needed too. Then purchased the manual lock out hubs. Now the diff is not turning the cv shafts. I am a sheety and had a co-worker (professional welder) tig weld it for me, and I know the welds didnt let go. Transfer case is still spinning the front drive shaft, but I can spin both half shafts and the Drive shaft (with t-case in neutral) with hands. No noise or resistance coming from diff. Any ideas before I purchase a new one?
