Stellar Chevy Showing Shines at 2019 Fall Carlisle
Fall Carlisle marks the end of car show season, but Chevy fans won’t have to wait long for the action to return.
Sadly, we’ve officially reached the end of car show season. And, as the weather turns bitterly cold, many of us will be parking our classic Chevy vehicles and dusting off our winter beaters. But even though this time of year always gives us mixed emotions, it’s also the perfect time to land that new project vehicle or elusive part for your current project. Especially if you were in attendance for the always awesome Fall Carlisle. And this year’s mega event, as usual, turned out to be quite the boon for Chevy fans.
The legendary Carlisle Fairgrounds were stuffed to the brim with all sorts of cool old cars for sale. Not to mention an incredible number of parts Carlisle organizers estimate in the seven figure range. Thus, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll find what you need. No matter how obscure that thing might be. So it’s no wonder that thousands of eager automotive enthusiasts showed up regularly for the five-day event. Even as the weather turned from record-breaking heat to a cold, steady rain.
Fall Carlisle has quite the reputation for its diverse offering of parts, new and old. And in the former category, vendors didn’t disappoint by offering their wares at hefty show-only discounts. But even those who weren’t necessarily in the market to buy anything had plenty to look forward to. This year’s car corral was filled with over 1,000 vehicles. And those looking to get in lined up as early as 7 a.m. from the very first day Fall Carlisle kicked off.
Then there was the two-day auction, which fans could preview at the Carlisle Expo Center ahead of Thursday and Friday night’s action. There was plenty of hammer-banging action in prime time, with sales reaching a total of $3.6-million. Ultimately, over 500 vehicles crossed the block, with over 50% of them finding a new home.
With the 2019 car show season now officially a wrap, we Chevy fans are facing a small lull in the action. But fear not, because Carlisle Events already has plenty of action lined up for next year. Beginning January 17-19, when the famous Auto Mania kicks off in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter, us Northern folks can thaw at in Lakeland, Florida on February 21-23 at the Winter Autofest. So instead of calling this the end of car show season, let’s just call it a short winter break!
