Chevy C10 With Supercharged 800 HP LT4 V8 Is As Good As It Gets
Chevy C10 started life as a clean one-owner pickup, but now, it’s a thoroughly massaged 800 horsepower street machine.
The Chevy C10 is a beloved machine as it sits, a real fan favorite that is incredibly popular to modify as well. We’ve certainly seen our fair share of modified C10s over the years, ranging from simple builds to no-expenses spared masterpieces we’d personally be afraid to drive, and risk getting scratched or even dirty. The owner of this Chevy C10 build certainly doesn’t hesitate to drive it, however, even though it’s just about as close to perfect as these things get.
Featured in a recent video from AutotopiaLA, this 1985 Chevy C10 is owned by a fellow named Mickey, who just so happens to make a living building drag cars. He acquired it in fantastic one-owner condition, and then proceeded to drive the truck for a couple of years while he saved up the coin to modify it. Since then, Mickey has treated it to a bevy of modifications, including the unique color choice on the outside that came from a 2016 model year Jeep catalog.
The C10 rolls on a set of 20-inch Forgeline wheels, and features a few exterior modifications such as a Blazer-style tailgate band with a hidden latch, tucked exhaust pipes, and a hidden fuel filler door, but certainly retains much of its original appeal, regardless. It does sit quite a lot lower than stock, of course, thanks to a brand new tube chassis that Mickey designed and built in-house – sporting a host of upgraded suspension bits. That setup consists of an independent suspension up front, coupled with custom coilovers and control arms, plus a Quaralink four-link out back, a 9-inch rear end, and Wilwood brakes.
All of those goods come in handy due to the fact that this Chevy C10 is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8, which itself has been upgraded with a new cam, ported heads, a bigger throttle body, and a ported blower – resulting in an output of 800 horsepower at the wheels on 20 pounds of boost. That power flows to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Of course, Mickey didn’t want to do all this work and leave the interior alone, so it’s also been gone through and upgraded with all-new threads and amenities including Dakota Digital instrumentation and a new stereo system.
To us at least, all of that makes this Chevy C10 the perfect cruiser, a truck that is incredibly capable and fun to drive while also showing some constraint in places where it’s needed.
