Amazing 1987 Chevy Silverado V10 Has Just 4,600 Miles on the Clock
This 1987 Chevy Silverado V10 sat around for many years unused, and it still hasn’t accumulated many miles as of late, either.
Square body GM pickups have always been popular among truck fans, in general, largely thanks to their timeless style, capability, and simplicity. As collectors began gravitating toward trucks just a few years ago, we’ve also seen the values of those same models skyrocket to new heights, particularly for low-mile, unmodified examples or fine restomods. However, it’s hard to assign a value to this amazing, barely used 1987 Chevy Silverado V10.
Featured in a recent video from the YouTube channel Automotive AZ Rancher, this 1987 Chevy Silverado V10 is owned by a fellow named Pete Borchert, who purchased it a few years ago, when it had just 1,700 miles on the clock. He has driven it some since then, but the stellar square body still only had 4,649 miles at the time of this filming, which is quite amazing for a vehicle of this vintage.
The original owner of the Chevy Silverado V10 ordered it with every available option, but due to a strike at the time, it was delayed by around five months. For reasons unknown, they didn’t really drive it for a long time, however – in fact, it only had 19 miles when it was registered with classic plates back in 2009. It’s still bone stock to this day, and doesn’t really show any flaws, save for the typical age-related wear, such as peeling stickers in certain places.
Otherwise, this is a gem of a truck with its original 350 TBI V8, mated to the optional three-speed overdrive transmission and 3.42 gears at both ends – plus a locking rear differential and manual locking hubs up front. The small block feeds off dual 40-gallon tanks, joining options like the heavy-duty radiator and transmission cooler.
On the outside, one will find a blue and gray two-tone paint job and all of the original chrome, plus rally wheels and a dealer-installed bedliner. The interior is equally clean, with a working quartz clock, an AM/FM cassette stereo system, cruise control, a tilt wheel, intermittent wipers, and a vanity mirror.
Overall, this Chevy Silverado V10 is a true time capsule of a truck, sporting one of the lowest – if not the lowest – mileage totals we’ve seen in recent times. We imagine that it would garner quite a lot of money if Borchert ever opted to part ways with his stellar ride, but he doesn’t seem likely to do so – at least, not anytime soon.
