2019 Silverado Sports Most Functional Bed of Any Truck

The new Silverado has a bed that’s bigger and more feature-rich than any other full-size truck on the market today.

The pickup wars are as hot as ever these days. And gaining an edge means constantly innovating and working to offer features that the other guys don’t. Chevy has done a great job of doing just that with the 2019 Silverado, which sports a host of innovative and downright useful features. One of which is the Durabed, which goes far beyond the traditional pickup truck bed with all kinds of cool kit and ingenious design. All of which is covered in this nifty video from DPC Cars.

It all starts off with something simple – size. The short box Durabed sports 20% more volume than the competition. Chevy gained that extra space without making the exterior of the bed larger, instead opting to widen the bed floor by seven inches. The 2019 Silverado bed also features stronger steel than its predecessor – 500 megapascals versus the old model’s 340 megapascals.

To that stronger, larger bed, Chevy added a whole laundry list of cool integrated features. There are now 12 fixed tie-downs, each with 500 lbs of force capacity. If that isn’t enough, nine additional movable tie-down points are also available, giving the Silverado more than any other full-size pickup. Even better, they’re all positioned at varying heights to ease access.
