Chevrolet Introduces New Z06 C7.R and Host of Other New Corvette Features

After weeks of speculation, Chevrolet finally took the wraps off what is likely to become one of the most coveted Corvette C7 models ever produced.

Known as the Z06 C7.R edition, the limited model was developed to pay homage to the Corvette C7.R racecars, and is offered in Corvette Racing’s signature yellow livery or black with coordinated exterior and interior accents.

Only 500 models of the car will be built, and all will come equipped with the Z07 Performance Package with Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, adjustable front and rear aero components and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires.

“Corvette Racing’s legacy and technology were significant influences on the development of the Corvette Z06, and the new C7.R Edition honors the direct link between the racecar and the production model,” said Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager, in a press release statement. “It also advances Chevrolet’s plan to offer special-edition models that offer unique, personal ownership experiences, which become important parts of Corvette’s legacy.”

Chevrolet also introduced a number of other new Z06 features for the 2016 model year including a new Carbon Fiber Hood option with a visible weave section and a new Spice Red Design Package.

In addition, the 2016 Z06 will include a new power-cinch feature for coupe hatch and convertible trunk latches, front curb view parking camera offered on 2LZ/3LZ trims, and an enhanced Chevrolet MyLink system.

The highly limited-edition Z06 C7.R edition will also feature a special serialized vehicle identification number, and will be offered on coupe and convertible models.
