Chevy Teams with the American Cancer Society to Beat Breast Cancer

Automaker is sponsoring ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ walks in communities across the country throughout October.

Ask any Chevy fan, and they’ll likely correct you. They aren’t individuals, they’re part of a Chevy family. And yes, a lot of that has to do with the rock-solid toughness and dependability of their Chevy truck. But there’s more to it than that. Chevy is incredibly connected to their die-hard fans. And as such, they give back. A lot.

Thanks to the program, appropriately called Chevy Cares, the automaker has pledged to donate up to $400,000 to breast cancer research during the month of October. For every social media post supporting cancer survivors using the hashtag #IDriveFor, the company will donate $5. That adds up pretty quickly.

Chevy is also partnering with the American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” to sponsor the Detroit walk at Hart Center on October 13. The pairing is part of a larger initiative called Chevy Cares. Under this program, the Bowtie Brand is making a major effort to spread goodwill across the country.

On top of #IDriveFor and the breast cancer walk, Chevy will donate up to $50,000 to the American Cancer Society for each caution lap its pace car takes at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Races at Talladega Speedway on October 14 and Martinsville on October 28. We’ve never rooted for caution laps before in our lives. But then again, it’s never been for such a good cause.

On top of that Chevy (and the larger GM family) are sponsoring a number of walks in communities across the country throughout October. For information on a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk near you, visit the American Cancer Society’s site. We can all pitch in to wage war against cancer. But it’s great to see the Bowtie doing its part too.
