2018 Silverado, Equinox Hit Home Run with MLB

Chevy’s ‘most capable’ vehicles will tower over Detroit Tigers home field throughout Major League Baseball season.

“This year, we have chosen to display the all-new Equinox and the HD Silverado [in Detroit] because they are among the most versatile, durable and capable vehicles in the Chevrolet lineup and we know that they are tough enough to withstand the unpredictable Michigan weather,” says Paul Edwards, Chevrolet’s marketing v.p.

Edwards was on hand to announce Chevrolet and Major League Baseball’s newest collaboration that sees the famed automaker helping the Detroit Tigers celebrate opening day of the MLB season by placing the popular vehicles atop the fountain at Detroit’s Comerica Park.

An all-new 2018 Equinox and a 2018 Silverado 2500HD have been delivered to the stadium and will sit high above the Chevrolet Fountain behind center field for the upcoming baseball season.

‘We have chosen to display the all-new Equinox and Silverado because they are tough enough to withstand the unpredictable Michigan weather.’

Chevrolet notes that because every Chevy spends 200 hours in the automaker’s Climatic Wind Tunnel, which is specifically designed to simulate extreme weather conditions, nothing special needs to be done to ensure the display vehicles can withstand the range of weather conditions during the baseball season.

“We greatly value our partnership with Chevrolet,” says Steve Harms, the Detroit Tigers’ V.P. of Corporate Partnerships. “The Chevrolet Fountain is a symbol of our community, and a representation of its hard working people…an iconic focal point within Comerica Park.”

In addition to its long-running Tigers sponsorship, Chevrolet is also the official vehicle of Major League Baseball.
