Crazy Truck Story of the Day: The ‘Human Push Bar’

Chevy truck - human tow strap

Fearless teen risks life and limb to get his Chevy fed.

Having your ride run outta gas right when your hanging with your buddies and having a good time time is obviously a big downer for anybody. And then when you realize that you have no gas canister on hand and that the nearest gas station is who-knows-where, you either have to get help or get smart to get outta this jam.

Well, Idaho teenager Noe Alvarez decided to get smart. Sorta. Well, wait. OK, actually, he decided to get smart-alec-y. When met with this situation and a Chevy S-10 truck, he came up with a quick and innovative solution that was also short-sighted and kind of Jackass-like in its approach (Sorry, Johnny Knoxville.)

The 18-year-old volunteered to be the human hood ornament on his friend’s tiny Honda car as his buddy drove behind the massive Chevy truck, with Alvarez’s feet, which were secured by a friend and facing toward, literally pushing the truck before him.

“We were pushing the truck with the car,” Alvarez tells The Iowa Statesman. “The truck ran out of gas, so I laid on top of the hood of the car and put my feet on the truck to push.”

Now, that’s dedication. And, of course, completely crazy. But, as will happen in these cases, the incident was filmed and has already made Alvarez a viral video star.

‘It was just in the moment, us being lazy.
We want to work smarter not harder.’

Alvarez takes the crazy Chevy-pushing incident, which would have made The Stooges proud, and laughs off his experience as a “human push bar.” He says he and his crew were never going above 20 mph, and the ride was only about five minutes long.

“It was just in the moment, us being lazy,” adds Alvarez. “We want to work smarter not harder.”

Regardless of whether his idea was sound or insane, one thing is certain: This is another interesting example of just how far some people will go to keep their Chevy trucks happy and healthy.
