Chevy Silverado Medium Duty Decks Out for L.A. Auto Show
Production of these new Chevy Silverado commercial rigs has just begun. But this one looks ready to work today.
Chevy fans certainly had lots to check out at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, as always. Virtually every Bow Tie model was on display, including current and future product. And we at Chevrolet Forum were there to capture it all for you. There were a host of Corvettes, including the ZR1. Even a trifecta of 2019 Camaro models and the new Blazer. But truck fans had plenty to check out as well, from the Colorado Bison all the way up to this fully decked-out Silverado Medium Duty commercial truck.
While those other flashy models might get more press, this particular truck might be the most important one on display for Chevy. The all-new Class 4 and 5 chassis cab trucks mark the automaker’s latest offerings in the lucrative commercial truck market. Which just so happens to be growing at a lightning pace. And they’re chock full of new and innovative features.
Available in a seemingly endless array of configurations, this particular truck is something you might see on your local roads soon. The red crew cab is decked out with a heavy duty flat bed capable of hauling some seriously heavy loads.
Power for all 4500 and 5500 HD models comes from a die-hard Duramax diesel, backed up by a bulletproof Allison transmission. Yes, the same gearboxes you’ll find in million-mile big rigs. Roughly two million trucks on the road today use that same drivetrain combination, and for good reason.
This particular Chevy truck is just one of a thousand possible ways to outfit the new medium duty line. And you can expect to see a whole bunch of them on your roads soon, because the new, beefier Silverados are just starting to roll off the production line.
