Chevy Truck Takes on a Ford Pickup at Demo Derby (Video)
Classic battle of Ford versus Chevy truck ends in rather dramatic fashion after driver basically takes himself out.
Demolition derbies generally bring to mind images of massive ’70s and ’80s sedans, bashing it out until only one is left standing (running). It’s the most brutal form of motorsport, one that quickly vanquishes many thousands of pounds of metal back to the junkyard. But you rarely see trucks participating in this kind of automotive carnage, for whatever reason, which makes this clip of a classic Ford vs Chevy truck battle all that more intriguing.
Judging from the way things go, maybe we should see this kind of thing more often. Because even from the start, it’s hard to bet against the Chevy truck. After all, its spray-painted sides deem that it’s “Hammer Time!” And if you were around in the late ’80s, you know what that means. It means that it’s time to don some massive, shiny tent pants and bust out some moves. Or just smash a Ford truck into pieces, we suppose.
And that’s exactly what happens here. We’d like to say that this is an exciting clip, one that dramatically documents the long, drawn out battle between two fierce rivals. But in reality, it’s over pretty quickly. After a short dance, the Ford attempts to give the Chevy truck the ol’ “tailgate to radiator” move. That temporarily stalls the Chevy’s attack, but not for long.
The Chevy truck manages to fold the rear of the Ford until the back of the bed is reaching for the sky. The Ford driver then gets a good angle on the Chevy, but seems to take himself out in the process. The Chevy truck gives him one more good love tap, just for good measure. But by now, it’s all over. It’s what you might call a bit of an embarrassing loss for Ford. But just further proof that Chevy trucks are, in fact, built like a rock!
