This is one time we don’t want to chant, ‘We’re number one!’

We know how much we love our trucks, but apparently thieves in the Houston, Texas area are equally smitten. Houston police recently released a list of the top vehicles targeted by thieves, and Chevy trucks top the list at number one.

According to the Houston Patch, 184 Chevy trucks were stolen in May alone. Trucks were a clear favorite among thieves, with Ford, GMC, and Dodge rounding out the top four. But Chevrolet cars were not spared either, placing sixth on the list. As we reported last year, Chevy trucks both new and old have been a perennial target for thieves.

A few tips to keep your truck safe and deter thieves include keeping your truck locked, parking it in a garage or well-lit area, and investing in an anti-theft device if your ride doesn’t already have one. We also recommend this easy hack: Etch your car’s vehicle identification (VIN) number on each of the truck’s windows. A thief will be deterred by the added expense of replacing the glass.

What tips do you have to secure your truck? Let us know in the comments!
