Colorado Special Editions

Guide to the Chevy Goodness: Here’s everything you need to know about all the different flavors of one of our favorite truck editions.

Trucks and special editions go together like peanut butter and jelly. After all, consumers have had the option of buying one for decades now, almost as long as the truck has been commercially viable. These days, no pickup worth its salt comes with any less than one or two special edition options. Chevrolet offers a whopping five Colorado special edition options, or six if you count the (not pictured) forthcoming ZR2.

That seems like a lot, but in reality, Chevy makes a Colorado to suit anyone’s taste. Whether you prefer sport truck looks or off road mayhem, there’s a mid-size Chevy for you. And each one sports its own unique styling cues and characteristics that set it apart from your standard, run-of-the-mill Colorado. Here’s what you get when you opt to drive each of these “special” trucks.

Colorado Custom

Colorado Custom

If you need a work truck but don’t want to drive a hokey looking, stripped out pickup, the Custom is exactly what you’re looking for. It’s available on work truck models only, but body color door handles, mirror caps, grille, and rear bumper make it look more like a non-work truck. And there’s no tiny steel work truck wheels here, either. The Custom comes with 18-inch Dark Argent Metallic-painted cast-aluminum rollers.

The Colorado Custom also comes with productive work stuff like an upgraded radio with 4G LTE Wi-Fi. So while you’re cruising job sites, you can also cruise around the web on a variety of devices. And you can even opt for add on accessories like a step bar. Clearly, this isn’t your father’s boring work truck.

LT Midnight

Colorado LT Midnight

As you might imagine, opting for the Midnight package means you’re getting a totally blacked out truck. Everything from the badges to the paint, grille, and spray-in bedliner is black. You also get a special doorsill applique, soft folding tonneau cover, and (you guessed it) black 18-inch wheels. If you prefer the blacked out look on a two wheel drive truck, the LT Midnight is your ride.

Z71 Midnight

For those who want a sinister look with four wheel drive and enhanced off road capability, there’s the Colorado Z71 Midnight. Unlike the LT, this one has 17-inch wheels with meaty Goodyear DuraTrac tires. It also features a unique Z71 hard badge, as well as all the other blacked out goodies its two wheel drive brother comes with.

Colorado Shoreline

Chevy even makes a Colorado for surfer dudes and dudettes. The Shoreline has everything you need to make a big splash, including a Thule stand up paddle board carrier, GearOn tiered storage racks, all-weather floor liners, and 5-inch rectangular assist steps. The Shoreline also comes with a host of styling updates including a body color grille, black 18-inch wheels, and blacked out door handles, mirrors, beltline moldings, and bowtie emblems.

Colorado Redline

Colorado Redline Edition

If you still have fond memories of the compact sports truck days, the Redline is right up your alley. Available on LT crew cab 4WD and LT extended cab 2WD models, the Redline features a host of styling changes to make it really stand out. Black accents adorn the window trim, mirror caps, door and tailgate handles, bowties, grille, and assist steps. The wheels are also black, but feature some cool looking red striped accents. And up front, you’ll find red recovery hooks peeking out from the bumper.
