Chevy dealer and football fan really wanted the Lions to beat the Packers, and he was willing to put a truck on the line for a win.

Chevy trucks and football players have a lot in common. Both have a large presence on the field of play. Both are tough as nails, and hard as rocks. Both can tackle any obstacle in their way. And both are known to score more than a few winning plays.

And often, people rely and bet on them to perform. The Detroit Free Press reported that Matt Bowers, a New Orleans Chevy dealer literally bet big on the Detroit Lions beating the Green Bay Packers on December 29; even offering a 2020 Silverado to the Lions’ quarterback, David Blough, if he came through.

And he was serious! He took to social media with the offer.

“[Blough’s] in Detroit, so I have to get him an American truck, right? I figure that’s good karma,” Bowers told the NOLA.com. “I can’t go back too far now. I’m all out there now.”

Bowers felt the bitter sting of tears last year, when a blown call in the NFC championship game left the Saints reeling, and gave the Los Angeles Rams the golden ticket to lose to the ever-dominate New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta.

And unfortunately, Bowers had another rough go when the Packers beat the Lions, 23-20.

He might not have taken it very well. Last year, he took out his rage over the Saints’ loss with a pair of billboards in Atlanta, one saying “Saints Got Robbed,” the other proclaiming in all caps “NFL BLEAUX IT!”

Let’s hope next year is Bower’s year. Although we certainly think a little Chevy Silverado temptation might just be enough incentive to get in some solids wins. Well, maybe we’ll chalk it up to being a “rebuilding” year.
