Donny Osmond Wants to Make the Silverado Even More ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll’

Based around his hit song ‘A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock ‘n Roll,’ Chevrolet’s new ad hit the right note for the iconic singer.

Over 40 years ago, the brother-sister duo of Donny and Marie Osmond performed a song on their ABC variety show, Donny & Marie, that would become one of their most beloved hits. Written by Nashville songwriter Marty Cooper, “A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock ‘n’ Roll” was used in the pilot episode of the variety show as its theme song, and the rest would become history.

Today, Donny wants bring some of his “Rock ‘n’ Roll” to the steering wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado, according to The Detroit News.

The story begins with the use of the song for Chevrolet’s latest ad campaign for the Silverado, which began airing during the College Football Playoff National Championship in early January. Donny caught wind of the ad and took to Twitter to place a request.

“If you put @DonnyOsmond in a #Silverado, will that make the truck more rock ‘n’ roll?” Donny tweeted. “I’ve never owned a Chevy #Silverado, but it sounds like it’s time to test one out. What do you say, @chevrolet? Can you make it happen?”

As if he didn’t make his desire to drive a Silverado clear enough, the “Soldier of Love” singer took to the editing room to superimpose his and Marie’s performance of the song onto a 30-second version of the ad, adding the following statement:

“Chevrolet… I hope you don’t mind. I had a little fun in the editing room.😉 I’ve never owned a Silverado, but it sounds like it’s time to test one out. What do you say?”

So far, the only response Chevrolet made was via Twitter, who said “We hear it too” in regards to the edited video. As the photo of Donny in front of his Toyota shows, it sounds like Donny is in desperate need of an upgrade. If anything though, it’s the Silverado that would make Donny more “rock ‘n’ roll,” if not heavy metal.
