Ford Gets Taken to Task for F-Series Build Quality

Ford v Chevy

Everything that’s wrong with Ford Trucks in one convenient post.

Look, we’re Chevy guys. Some of us hate Fords. Others don’t see a problem with them, but they aren’t for us. Some of us don’t need a reason to feel the way we do. But hey, if you’ve never liked what the Blue Oval has to offer but wanted to put some reasoning behind it, check out this article. Perfectly spotlighted by HotCars, it nicely sums up why we’ve been putting those stickers of Calvin peeing on a Ford logo on our trucks for so long.

The headline “19 Glaring Problems with Ford Pickups Everyone Just Ignores” is, well, hard to ignore. It’s all here. There are safety recalls for things faulty airbags, faulty brakes, and engine failures. There’s suspension geometry that keeps drivers dangerously guessing. The Triton V8’s tendency to eat spark plugs also makes an appearance. As does the 1980s-era scandal where trucks would pop out of park and start to roll. That issue nearly bankrupted Ford back in the day.

Then they touch on some of the less serious but no less obnoxious issues with the F-Series. There are fragile power window switches. The atrocious MyFord Touch infotainment system. Squeaks and rattles throughout the cabin. Seat belts that stick. Power seats that come loose in their frames. And doors that stick but pop open in collisions.

And of course, the icing on the cake is that Ford issued a massive recall for V6-powered 2018 models – doesn’t exactly make a potential buyer feel confident, does it? That, and the fact that they’re so freaking expensive doesn’t help.

A Ford fan might counter and say that a lot of these issues aren’t exclusive to the F-Series. They may have a point. But to us Chevy fans, this is music to our ears. Next time you see your buddy with the F-150, bring a few of these up to them. We’re sure they’ll love it.
