GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 No. 1 Heads to Barrett-Jackson
Already making a big splash on the EV scene, Hummer EV Edition 1 No. 1 will pull in all the bucks for charity down in Scottsdale in March.
The newest off-roader to hit the scene, the GMC Hummer EV is electrifying like no other. Literally. The first EV off-road dominator to hit the market repurposes its namesake for the new age in the making. You certainly won’t see a Tesla getting down and dirty the way this one will; it can also crab-walk through and across obstacles (take that, Teslarati).
Among the rarest of the new breed is the Hummer EV Edition 1. All of the copies built for the 2022 model year were snapped up within 10 minutes. All but one, that is. According to The Drive, No. 1 is heading off to Scottsdale, Arizona for the big show of Barrett-Jackson, set for March 20 through 27.
The first Hummer EV features a white exterior and black/gray interior (like all of the Edition 1s), and will follow in the tire treads of another No. 1. After all, it was only last January when the first-ever mid-engine Corvette (represented by a pre-production model) rolled into the big tent in the desert. Three minutes and $3 million later, No. 1 went to NASCAR legend Rick Hendrick. Meanwhile, the money went to the Detroit Children’s Fund, a Detroit non-profit whose mission is to improve the city’s schools.
This time around, proceeds will go to Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Twenty years ago, the foundation’s namesake was among the hundreds of firefighters sent up to battle the blaze on the upper floors of the original World Trade Center. He was among those who would lose their lives when the towers collapsed that September morning.
Today, the foundation helps vets, first responders, and Gold Star families with their needs, ranging from homes designed for catastrophically injured veterans, to covering the mortgages of fallen first responders.
At no reserve, the No. 1 Hummer EV is likely to snag as much as the No. 1 C8 Corvette in its time in the spotlight. So, if you’ve had your eye on the big EV, why not take a chance on owning the very first?
