Iran Just Banned Importing Chevys
Two-hundred Chevrolets valued at approximately $7,000,000 were scheduled to make the trip from South Korean into Iran. Thanks to the Iranian government, that order has now been canceled, and the country has banned the import of Chevrolets all together. This comes shortly after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei denounced the vehicles and promoted the support of in-house products.
“Even the Americans are not interested in buying such cars because of their weight and high fuel consumption,” Khamenei reportedly said to workers in Tehran, Iran’s capital. “Why should we import the cars from a bankrupt American factory? This is very odd.”
Khamenei also criticized young rich Iranians who were out and about driving supercars and luxury vehicles, going so far as to say that it’s because of poor education and identity crises.
Poor fuel economy, huh? Maybe somebody should brief him on the upcoming Bolt?
