Lifted '87 Silverado Combines Classic and Modern Styles

We think that all car dealerships should have a “big and tall” section for stuff like this.

We’ve found yet another awesome classic Chevy pickup on RacingJunk, and boy, is it a doozy. This 1987 Chevrolet Silverado 4×4 combines the best of classic and modern trucks. Just looking at it makes us want to write a hit country song.

The classic two-tone paint is probably the first thing you’ll notice. That’s certainly what grabbed us. Black and baby blue isn’t a color combination we’ve ever really thought about until now. As you can clearly see, it looks great. Then again, it’s hard to go wrong with baby blue on a square-body pickup.

The next thing that probably caught your eye are the massive wheels and knobby tires. The 20″ chrome Fuel wheels are a far cry from the old-school wagon wheels we usually see on these trucks. They’re wrapped with equally eye-catching 37×13.5″ Nitto off-road tires.

We don’t have specifics on the lift kit involved in clearing that big rubber. Suffice to say it’s pretty damn tall.

Under the hood, you’ll find a familiar small block Chevy V8, but in fuel-injected guise. Remember, this truck is all about adding modern performance and convenience to a classic shape.

That evergreen V8 is backed up by an equally venerated four-speed manual gearbox. The seller advises that there are no major modifications to the engine, as drivability and reliability were the builder’s primary concerns.

Inside, the brown cloth & vinyl bench seat is free of rips and tears. The door panels and steering wheel are similarly well-preserved, while the lower dash was repainted to match the upper dash.

This truck sports its original AM/FM/cassette stereo. We hope that there’s a Bluetooth cassette adapter in the glovebox — that would fit the truck’s established theme very well. There’s also ice cold factory air conditioning for those hot summer nights.

We can’t think of a more perfect truck for summer fun than this. Of course, perfection comes at a steep price. You can find this truck for sale in La Vergne, Tennessee for $38,995. We hope that price includes a ladder.
