Modded Colorado is Awesome and Beefy
The new Chevy Colorado is a wonderful little truck. It’s a welcome addition to the very stagnate small truck market, and is just as rugged as it’s big brother the Silverado. However, after driving the Colorado for a week through snow and ice, I found it wanting a bit when I asked it to do some more technical off-roading.
My biggest gripe was twofold, ground clearance and non-locking differentials. The combination of the lack of those two made the Colorado almost immediately get stuck in some soft snow. However, the overall truck was a really great thing, it just needs some work.
Thankfully, one aftermarket outfit is ready to alleviate at least one of these issues. For the new 2015 Colorado, Icon Vehicle Dynamics has created a 5 Stage kit that boosts the overall ride height and capability of the new little truck. This involves a whole set of suspension components as well as some neat stuff for the bumpers. Overall, the kits can increase the trucks ride height anywhere from 1.75 inches to a full 3 inch lift.
The kits are available now, and you can pick one up starting at $1,400. Let me tell you, they’re definitely worth looking in to just based on my previous Colorado experiences.
