Retro Chevy Truck Seller Has Bow Tie in His Blood

Get to know Blake Greenfield, the man who started the entire retro Chevy truck craze!

We’ve been all over the modern/retro Chevy truck craze lately. Because, well, these old school/new school haulers are just plain cool. More than one dealership has jumped on the retro train lately, but as far as we know, the original idea came from Blake Greenfield, owner of Blake Greenfield Chevrolet Buick in Wells, Minnesota. We knew all about Greenfield’s incredible green and white Silverado conversion way back in January, but we didn’t really know much about the inspiration behind that Chevy truck. Until now, thanks to this video from Machinery Pete.

This shouldn’t exactly come as a surprise, but Greenfield is a die-hard, life-long Chevy truck fan. It all started when he was a 16 year-old “rocking a sweet mullet” in Iowa. The first vehicle he ever bought was a 1970 Chevy C10 short bed pickup, not a bad score for any fresh-faced teen driver. The pickup also sported a bored-out 355 small block and Muncie four-speed, which sounds like quite the fun combination. It should also come as no surprise that the very first new vehicle Greenfield’s father ever bought was a Chevy truck. A 1973 Chevy 3/4 ton, four-wheel drive, to be exact.

Sounds like a familiar story to most of us, now doesn’t it? Greenfield was eventually able to turn his childhood obsession into a career, becoming the owner of his very own Chevy dealership. Greenfield got the idea to build the very first retro Chevy truck, the infamous green and white 2014 Silverado, after his dad passed away in 2004. He wanted to build something to pay tribute to his Chevy-loving father, but he wasn’t sure what.

Until he laid eyes on the recently traded-in ’14 Chevy, which sported a unique green paint job to begin with. Unsurprisingly, it immediately stood out to the younger Greenfield.

“I thought to myself, ‘I’m gonna make this truck look like my dad’s old two-tone truck,'” Greenfield said. So he called up his vinyl guy and communicated that vision. And the rest, as they say, is history. One thing’s for sure, though. We bet pops would give this awesome ride his seal of approval!
