Watch This Chevy Mud Truck Tackle a Track Like a Race Car

Who says a Chevy mud truck is only good for one thing?

When you think of mud trucks, you probably think of one of two things. You envision a giant tired truck with a huge lift running through deep mud, or perhaps jumping giant hills. Probably with some redneck cheering him on with cheap beer in hand. But you’ve probably never seen a Chevy mud truck destroy a proper circular track. Until now, that is.

Let us introduce you to David Coulter. The Middleburg, Florida resident pilots a truck by the name of “Monsterado.” And judging by the looks of things, there might not be a more appropriate name for the Colorado based beast. The mid-sizer derives power from a monster 588ci big block, sending copious amounts of torque through a Power Glide transmission.

A healthy 1,000 horsepower goes through a Cyclone transfer case and out to the four BKT 171 14.9×24/24 tires. And with a custom built tube chassis, this thing kind of takes a race car mentality to the dirt. Which is probably why it flies around this track at a recent Mega Truck Series event at Adventure Offroad park so much like one.

Kudos to Coulter for building such a capable truck. And for having the huevos to drive it like he does. Even though Monsterado appears to be incredibly stable around those turns, we’d be afraid of eating mud at those speeds. But at least we’d have tons of fun in the process.
