Will the 2016 Chevrolet Spark Shock Buyers?

2016 Chevrolet Spark

Chevrolet offers a wide range of cars in various sizes. Their smallest car, the Spark, was a good little car that was pretty safe and had decent technology. It looked funky for its size, but it’s hard to say that it actually looked good.

For 2016, Chevrolet went back to the drawing board and completely redesigned the car. The results that you see in this story are different, yet familiar. You can only design a car so small and be able to carry four people a certain way, so the overall profile looks a bit similar.

But, the silly roof rack things are gone, and the front end looks more tame and mature.

Speaking of maturity, a new 1.4L EcoTec engine appears in this car, and when paired to a new CVT transmission, should get 40 miles-per-gallon on the highway, according to the General.

New technology is also abound, including a 7″ display with MyLink. Also available is blind spot monitoring, accident warning, and lane assistance warning. It’s nice to see such technology trickle down to the smallest of car offerings.

Also, expect the new Spark to be pretty safe. The last version was a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and the new one should also do well in testing. A rearview camera is standard, and rear parking sensors are available.

The new Spark will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year.
